Preserving older ships that are still in use is a complex and expensive business. The Maritime Museum offers economical subsidies to owners of historically valuable ships.

The subsidies are intended to stimulate the preservation of the cultural-historical elements of these ships. A grant from the Maritime Museum is normally only a small part of the total cost.

Subsidies can be applied for by the owners of ships that are listed by the Maritime Museum, or for ships that are likely to be listed.
